REDUCE TAKE-AWAY FOOD
Viet Nam take-away street food is absolutely packed in the plastic bag, box or cup. It’s a sad story but we are try day by day to take action as much as possible. If you drop in a coffee shop or food vendor on the street, eat directly here instead of bringing to your hostel.
Avoid to call for food delivery order.
In case you are at home after a tired day, you can book food online through grab app. And please note the driver that “don’t take the plastic spoon/chopstick” on the new function of grab app.
EAT LOCAL FOOD
Eat local food also means you don’t need to take fast food/ packing food which is packed in a plastic bag or cans. It’s known that the fasstest way to understand the region is eating local food.
However, in Viet Nam, if you try street food like ” banh trang tron”, “banh trang nuong”, “xoai lac”, you will receive the food with a plastic box. There is no other way. You can find another vendor where serve the table and dish on the real plate.
EAT SUSTAINABLY
Do you know, the food waste globally sums to one- third of the total food produced for human consumption, about 1.6 billions tons a year, according to FAO report in 2013. People tend to purchase too much foodstuffs than they really need. And then it’s obvious the excess food on the plate will go to waste.
CHOOSE THE ECO-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS
Mental bottle, canvas bag… are both eco-friendly products to prepare before you backpack anywhere. Choosing the green products also show the way you vote for environment protection. In Viet Nam, we often said that “one tree can not amount to anything, three of them together an look like a mountain”. I and you, join hand to build the green earth forever.
LEAVE NO TRACE
This is not really a tip. This is a culture of traveller network.
No matter where you travel, the only thing you should leave behind is footprints. Most eco-backpackers take this action futher now. Don’t forget picking up trashes when you leave a place or even make it better than when you visit. So that it doesn’t end up sinking into the ground or ocean.

Trekking, swimming… is one of the most activities to experience in Viet Nam. Be careful where you step and don’t damage the precious ecosystem. Try not to pick flowers and harm plant life.
