No.42 Nguyen Hue cafe building-An amazing place for coffee lovers & wanderer
THE No.42 NGUYEN HUE CAFE BUILDING
Standing on the crowded and famous Nguyen Hue walking street with many interesting architectural sights, the No.42 Nguyen Hue apartment now known as the cafe building certainly stands out as one of the most unique. Here stays a dozen of coffee shops decorated with different styles, becoming the soul and symbol of Saigon’s young people and art-lovers.
Have been built in the so far mid 1960s, the apartment 42 Nguyen Hue – cafe building has been through extreme changes. It once held as the American military officers. As HCMC developed every day, authority changed Nguyen Hue st. to what you may see it today – a center of tourism. The tenants began to rent out their apartments for business and coffee shops. Unfortunately, the law is pushing back. Notices of eviction for all the businesses have been made regularly. They’re still opened, but nobody knows it will last for how long. Maybe in the next few years, no. 42 cafe apartment building is just a reminiscence of the Saigonese.

The shop design was inspired by Saigon City in 1975s, so the space seems quite simple and elegant. Only with the white walls, some brown wooden tables and chairs, but the thing that makes it more memorable in this shop is the quietness different from the crowded and cramped city outside.
