Ba Ria – Vung Tau is 116km from Ho Chi Minh City, next to the East Sea. Its terrain includes mountains, hills, beaches, plains and sand dunes stretching along a 100km of coastline. Due to the harmonious combination of the sea, mountains and beaches, this is a great tourist centre. This is a favorable condition for sustainable development of sea and island tourism.

Climate

The climate is divided into two main seasons:

  • The rainy season: from April to October
  • The dry season: from November to March

The average annual temperature is from 25oC -27oC(77-80.6 °F). Ba Ria – Vung tau has no winter, so it is opportune for backpackers to visit all year.

Culture

Nature and culture have rewarded Ba Ria – Vung Tau with great potential for tourism development. Cultural and spiritual tourism is a main tourism product of the locality. Attached to the annual monuments in the area, there are many big festivals are organized annually.

 

Thang Tam Festival

The 17th – 20th days of the 2nd lunar month

Thang Tam Communal House is dedicated to the three Genies who founded the three Thang villages in Vung Tau. This festival is a typical activity of fishermen, and it is deeply influenced by folk culture.

Dinh Co Festival

The 10th – 12th days of the 2nd Lunar month

Every year, Dinh Co Festival is solemnly celebrated by Long Hải fishermen according to traditional rituals on the anniversary of the death of LeThi Hong. The festival generally attracts ten of thousands of pilgrims who come to pray and enjoy the scenery.

 

Ba Ria – Vung Tau International Kite Festival

Ba Ria – Vung Tau International Kite Festival is a culture, sports, and tourism event which was held annually in Vung Tau City with the participation of many artisans from domestic and international kite clubs. Activities include kite performance activities, kite exhibitions, classes of designing and making kites,etc that help attendees have the opportunity to learn about kite art.

Ba Ria – Vung Tau is an essential tourist destination, being particularly well-known for its beaches, for its colonial-era architecture. There are some big projects licensed or to be licensed soon: Saigon Atlantis resort (capitalized USD 300 million), Vung Tau Aquarium and Bau Trung entertainment park and Xuyen Moc safari.

This area is also well-known for its potential petroleum and gas development. The handicraft products are also developing a name for the province. Some craft villages are Bằm Fish Sauce Village, Long Kiên Noodles Village, Long Hải Fish Village, Cooper Casting Village at Long Điền

Boat

In Vung Tau, you can board a hydrofoil at Cau Da pier (126 Ha Long St., Vung tau City) for HCMC. Vina Express (Tel: (0254)3 510 900). They take care about 1h20 and cost 200.000/one way.

 

Express 36 high speed boat to Con Dao Island: Its takes 3-4 hours from Vung Tau to Con Dao. Being operated in 02/2019, the high speed was put into operation at the port of Con Dao passenger ship (in Ben Dam, Con Dao district) and Cau Da port (Vung Tau city).

Vung Tau – Con Dao Island: 8:00AM (one way)

Con Dao – Vung Tau: 13:00PM (one way)

Price: VNĐ 660.000 ticket/one way from Monday to Thursday
