I am certain that being a traveler or backpacker, you are no longer strange to passport as well as visa: what they mean and how they used.

Passport: a document that is issued by country’s government to its citizens to certify the identity during abroad travel.

Visa: an official document or a stamp put in your passport, issued by immigration authority of country you visit.Visa allows you to enter or leave legally a particular country.

VISA FREE TO VIET NAM

According to statistics of Vietnam tourism organization, the number of tourist arrivals in Viet Nam in 9 months of 2019 reached 12.870.506 visitors, increased by 10,8% from the same period last year. It’s optimistic view for Viet Nam tourism.

Thanks to exemption agreement, Vietnam have permission for foreigners to enter and live in Viet Nam within a period of time without visa. Pay attention that if the time between two continous entries is more than 30 days, you can enjoy visa free for both. Unless, you must get a visa for the next entry.

These countries below is countries where its citizens can come to Viet Nam without visa. I just mention Visa-free for tourist visa:

Viet Nam Visa-free for 14 days: Brunei, Myanmar

Viet Nam Visa-free for 15 days: France, Japan, Denmark, UK, German, Spain, Italy, Russia, South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Belarus.

Viet Nam Visa-free for 21 days: Philippines

Viet Nam Visa-free for 30 days: Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia

Phu Quoc Island is one of the most beautiful and attractive beach in Viet Nam. In order to develop the Viet Nam tourism, the government allow that all foreigners can visit Phu Quoc island without Visa within 30 days. 3 WAYS TO GET VISA VIETNAM

WAY 1: GET VISA DIRECTLY FROM EMBASSY

Backpackers Viet Nam can get their Visa Viet Nam directly through Viet Nam Embassy or Consulate office in their own country.

The application form and fee for Visa Viet Nam can vary on the country where embassy located. So please check directly on the website of specific embassy.

In some cases, this kind of visa is compulsory for backpackers from some countries come to Vietnam due to these government’s passport policy. Mentioned here: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Cameroon, China, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Egypt, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Jamaica, Jordan, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey.

Viet Nam Embassy is still not available in some countries such as: East Timor, Afghanistan, Colombia, Croatia…. So if you are resident in those countries, i suggest you the second or third way below. They are updated edition to get visa vietnam.

WAY 2: VISA ON ARRIVAL

Obtain a visa on arrival/ VOA/ landing visa is to apply for an approval letter and pick up the visa in the international airport in Viet Nam.

There are 3 steps:

Steps 1: apply online for an approval letter from VietNam embassy website. It usually takes 3-5 days to get the letter.

Step 2: Backpack in full to Viet Nam, when you access Viet Nam international airport, please show at landing visa counter:

– approval letter in hard copy

– 2 photos in 4x6cm or 2x2inches with white background

– M3 entry/exist form

– Cash, the stamping fee require to pay by cash only, VND or USD is ok.

By Viet Nam Visa on Arrival, you must pay 2 kinds of fee:

– Serviced fee: the amount paid for agent to get approval letter. It depends on which agency and your registered quantity, generally vary from 7 USD

– Stamping fee: the fee paid directly at landing visa counter when you reach the viet nam international airport. It’s by cash only: VND, USD are the most popular.

It takes ordinary $25 for single entry visa and $50 for multiple in 1-3 months.

Visa on arrival is applicable in air travel only.

Step 3: get visa stampied

WAY 3: E-VISA

Since 2017, Government of Viet Nam has launched the updated visa: E-VISA VIET NAM.

The new online system simplifies the procedures to enter Viet Nam, in this way that backpackers can apply visa vietnam via website. It take up 3 working days after the Vietnam Immigration Department receives the completed application and full e-Visa fee. Viet Nam E-visa is valid in maximum 30 days after the initial entry date and single entry only.

The fee is paid via online payment gateway by the Viet Nam Immigration Department and will not refused for any reasons whatsoever.
